We periodically organize various educational workshops for museum and cultural workers in Montenegro.

We participate in relevant projects independently or in partnership with other associations.
Participation in Round Tables
We are a regular participant and occasional organizer of regional round tables related to the museum profession.
Providing Professional Support
We continuously provide professional support to all female and male colleagues employed in the museum profession.
Museums for a better tomorrow
The Museum Society of Montenegro is a professional association that brings together museum professionals of various profiles from almost all museums in Montenegro.





The association was established at the end of 2020 with the aim of improving working conditions for museum professionals, contributing to the advancement of museology and the museum profession, working on changes and improvements to legislation related to the museum profession, establishing cooperation with similar associations and institutions from abroad, and facilitating communication between museums, museum workers, and institutions dealing with the protection of cultural heritage in Montenegro.
The Museum Society of Montenegro achieves its goals through engagement in the following tasks:
- Respecting and consistently applying the Society’s Statute and the ICOM Code of Ethics for Museums, as well as good museum practice;
- Advocating for the professional and social interests of members in all aspects of museum activities related to the preservation and protection of cultural heritage;
- Applying modern principles and methods in museology and other scientific disciplines that support museum activities, as well as modern standards, techniques, and technologies in professional museum work;
- Developing and improving the network of museums and museum institutions in Montenegro and their interconnection within museum activities;
- Organizing mutual cooperation and mutual assistance at all levels of museum activity;
- Establishing and improving documentation and electronic information systems in museums and museum institutions, as well as a central information system;
- Encouraging and ensuring continuous professional development of members through theoretical and practical education;
- Verifying professional development by issuing certificates or diplomas for completed seminars or courses organized by the Society;
- Publishing the Society’s Bulletin and other publications in the field of museum activity and museology;
- Initiating proposals to state bodies for improving policies in the field of cultural heritage protection and museum collections;
- Advocating for respect of the professional and social status of museum institutions and persons engaged in museum activities;
- Advocating that persons elected to manage or lead museums and museum institutions (director, manager, president and members of the Management Board) have publicly confirmed professional, scientific, and personal authority in the field of museum activity, and for public evaluation of their work during their term;
- Raising social awareness about the importance of cultural heritage and the complex role of museum activity in its preservation and protection;
- Cooperating with other national, regional, and international associations, organizations, and institutions in the field of museum activity and cultural heritage protection.
